Forest Beacon
The Forest Beacon is an illuminated sculpture that evokes the quiet mystique of a fantastical woodland growth—part mushroom, part totemic lantern. Rising gracefully from a textured stump, the form recalls an oversized toadstool or forest sentinel, its vibrant cap shimmering with iridescent color. Along its base, tiered shelf fungi echo the golden hues of chanterelles, lending the piece a sense of organic stratification and slow, natural accumulation.
Multiple iterations of the stump have been developed, each exploring a different material vocabulary. Some employ a wood–plastic filament that captures the tactile warmth and irregular grain of natural timber; others use a metallic-infused filament that heightens the work’s ethereal, otherworldly presence. In every version, the finely articulated smaller fungi reinforce the impression of a living ecosystem paused in a moment of emergence.
Standing approximately 16.5 inches (42 cm) tall, the Forest Beacon is internally lit by a single LED source. This gentle illumination transforms the sculpture into a luminous object—its cap glowing with soft radiance while the darker stump and golden accents create a dramatic interplay of shadow and light. The result is a work that feels simultaneously whimsical and reverent, inviting viewers into an atmosphere of quiet enchantment.
